Shoulder Arthroscopy

Each seminar will handle a specific unit in order that the trainee will acquire detailed knowledge on the field of his/her training. The units (and the educational programme) to be instructed are:

  • Knee 1 : anterior cruciate ligament - meniscuses
  • Knee 2 : cruciate ligament and posterolateral corner
  • Knee 3 : patella instability and cartilage lesions
  • Shoulder : shoulder instability and rotator cuff lesion
  • Ankle: Cartilage lesions, arthroscopic debridement

Knee 1 : anterior cruciate ligament - meniscuses

The aim of this seminar is that the trainee be acquainted with the techniques:

  • plastic surgery of the anterior cruciate ligament with hamstrings and patella tendon
  • plastic surgery of double-bundle anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction
  • Meniscectomy
  • Meniscal suturing with all techniques (inside-out, outside-in, all inside)

The Orthopaedic Department of the General Hospital of Larissa in collaboration with the Anatomy laboratory of the University of Thessalia organizes seminars of Athroscopic Surgery with the aim of educating young physicians in the field of arthroscopic surgery and sports medicine on a regular basis.
Those seminars provide the Orthopaedic Surgeons with the unique opportunity to acquire further knowledge and improve their skills on the arthroscopic techniques and enhance their theoretical background in Sports Medicine, having the following features:

  • A 2-day intensive seminar
  • Limited number of participants (10-12)
  • Attendance of live surgery operations
  • Analytic approach –oriented lectures on various techniques
  • Clinical practice on cadaveric workshops
  • Two  trainees per cadaveric workshop
  • One trainer per cadaveric workshop
