Weekly Academic Education and Training programmes

To demonstrate the relationship between learning and implementing acquired knowledge and skills in clinical practices, we have established a program of educational conferences taking place every Monday. They constitute ‘learning from each other’ breakout sessions to maintain up-to-date knowledge on the challenging issues faced with in everyday clinical practice. They are held at the “K. Houliaras” University Library (Tower B, 3rd floor). Challenging cases are presented in such a teaching format that discussions about the diagnostic and management approaches are initiated as well as the decision-making processes are helped.

These conferences are a way to perform needs assessment, which is fulfilled by observations of actual performance of the residents-trainees when seeing cases which are unusual in nature, worthy of discussion and thus, of high educational value. Practice performance assessment, in this way, helps each new physician to more clearly define and enlarge the scope of self-assessment.
